PRI is a New York State admitted carrier that has been in existence since 1982.
PRI is the second largest underwriter of professional liability insurance for physicians in New York State and is on the top ten list of largest writers in the United States.
PRI is approved by the New York State Department of Insurance to underwrite professional liability coverage and general liability coverage for doctors, hospitals and healthcare facilities in New York State. We do not presently provide coverage in states other than New York, except as incidental.
As a licensed and admitted carrier in the State of New York PRI policy holders are protected by the New York State Guarantee Fund.
Professional Liability coverage is available either on a claims-made or occurrence non-assessable basis. "Nose" and "Tail" coverage can also be provided.
Comprehensive General Liability coverage is offered on an occurrence basis only.
Minimum premium may apply.
Large doctor practices may prefer purchasing one master policy for their medical professional liability coverage. Some of the benefits of doing so include the availability of deductibles, consolidation of billing and customized risk management support.

PRI's underwriting philosophy is to tailor coverage and customize programs that are responsive to a client's needs.
PRI will also provide first-dollar claims-handling services for clients seeking excess limits only.
Deductibles are available and may be subject to escrow procedures.
PRI employs its own investigative staff to review potential and asserted claims. Our Field Investigators are registered nurses, allied health professionals and paralegals with several years of claims investigation experience.
On site risk management surveys will be routinely performed on all new and renewing business. Clients will have access to a wide range of educational programs that focus on quality care initiatives and minimizing claims.
Loss runs are generated quarterly, or as otherwise requested, and can be made available in Microsoft Excel® format, hard copy or electronic versions.
PRI’s in-house actuaries perform special studies and analyses that can be made available via customized reports on an annual or quarterly basis.
Clients will have access to PRI’s award winning web based risk management programs entitled, "Prevention of Medical Errors". This interactive patient safety training program is designed primarily for physicians and uses actual case studies as the teaching base.
