Professional Liability Policy can cover professional services provided by an institution and/or professional internships performed by its students.

Limits of liability offered are $1 million/$3 million on a primary or excess basis. Additional limits are available. Defense costs do not apply toward the occurrence or aggregate limit.

Student and faculty coverage can be provided.

Both Claims-Made and Occurrence policies are written on a non-assessable basis. “Nose” and “Tail” coverage can also be provided.

General Liability coverage available on an occurrence form.

Deductibles are available.

Minimum premium may apply.

Employed or contracted physicians and clinical staff can be insured as part of the facility.

Sublimits available for employed mental health professionals who counsel students at risk for self injury.

PRI is a New York State admitted carrier that has been in existence since 1982.

PRI is the second largest underwriter of professional liability insurance for physicians in New York State and is on the top ten list of largest writers in the United States.

PRI is approved by the New York State Department of Insurance to underwrite professional liability coverage and general liability coverage for doctors, hospitals, and healthcare facilities in New York State. We do not presently provide coverage for facilities in states other than New York, except as incidental.

As a licensed and admitted carrier in the State of New York PRI policy holders are protected by the New York State Guarantee Fund.

Value-added services are being offered, without a fee, as part of the coverage package. These include:

PRI’s underwriting philosophy is to tailor coverage and customize programs that are responsive to a client’s needs.

PRI can provide first-dollar claims-handling services for clients that seek excess limits.

PRI employs its own investigative staff to review potential and asserted claims. Our Field Investigators are registered nurses, allied health professionals and paralegals with several years of claims investigation experience.

On site risk management surveys will be routinely performed on all new and renewing business. Clients will have access to a wide range of educational programs that focus on quality care initiatives and minimizing claims.

Loss runs are generated quarterly, or as otherwise requested, and can be made available in Microsoft Excel® format, hard copy or electronic versions.

PRI’s in-house actuaries perform special studies and analyses that can be made available via customized reports on an annual or quarterly basis.

Clients will have access to PRI’s award winning web based risk management programs entitled, “Prevention of Medical Errors”. This interactive patient safety training program is designed primarily for physicians and uses actual case studies as the teaching base.

Competitive broker commissions are paid on both new and renewing business.
