PRI is a New York State admitted carrier that has been in existence since 1982.

PRI is the second largest underwriter of professional liability insurance for physicians in New York State and is on the top ten list of largest writers in the United States.

PRI is approved by the New York State Department of Insurance to underwrite professional liability coverage and general liability coverage for doctors, hospitals and healthcare facilities in New York State. We do not presently provide coverage in states other than New York, except as incidental.

As a licensed and admitted carrier in the State of New York PRI policy holders are protected by the New York State Guarantee Fund.

Limits of liability offered are $1 million per occurrence/$3 million in the aggregate on a primary or excess layer. Additional limits are available. Defense costs do not apply toward the occurrence or aggregate limit.

Professional Liability claims-made and occurrence policies are written on a non-assessable basis. “Nose” and “Tail” coverage can also be provided.

General Liability coverage available on an occurrence form.

Minimum premium may apply.

Medical Directors and other physicians are covered for their malpractice exposures by endorsement.

Any partner, executive officer, administrator, stockholder, member of the board of directors, trustees or governors are covered while acting within the scope of his or her duties.

Coverage provided for volunteers and Good Samaritans as well as full or part-time employees.

PRI's underwriting philosophy is to tailor coverage and customize programs that are responsive to a client's needs. Manuscripted endorsements will be considered for unique professional liability exposures.

PRI employs its own investigative staff to review potential and asserted claims. Our Field Investigators are registered nurses, allied health professionals and paralegals with several years of claims investigation experience.

On site risk management surveys will be routinely performed on all new and renewing business. Clients will have access to a wide range of educational programs that focus on quality care initiatives and minimizing claims.

Loss runs are generated quarterly, or as otherwise requested, and can be made available in Microsoft Excel® format, hard copy or electronic versions.

PRI’s in-house actuaries perform special studies and analyses that can be made available via customized reports on an annual or quarterly basis.

Clients will have access to PRI’s award winning web based risk management programs entitled, “Prevention of Medical Errors”. This interactive patient safety training program is designed primarily for physicians and uses actual case studies as the teaching base.

Competitive Broker commissions are paid for all long-term care business, on both new accounts and upon renewal.

Value-added services are being offered, without a fee, as part of the coverage package. These include:
